Tim Bennett stated, in response to the question "Should Governor Sanford Be Impeached" in this weeks Horry Independent, "They didn't impeach Bill Clinton when he had an affair". Actually, yes, Bill Clinton was impeached. Was not removed from office, but yes, he WAS impeached.

I would like to know why the Coastal Carolina University did not donate scholarship money to the Suggs family. I think that it is wonderful that they were offered an opportunity at the Charleston Southern University and HGTC, but if the children want to attend a four year college they were not given the opportunity to stay local. I just thought that CCU would have reached out more.

I believe the reason CCU didn't donate scholarships had to do with the fact that they did for the last Home Makeover and couldn't swing it again in the current economic situation. Understandable

I am so excited about the tuition-free public charter school that will open this coming school year for Horry County families and would love to see more information about Palmetto Academy shared with local parents. You can get more information from their website at www.palmettoacademy.com or call the principal directly to get more information about this great educational opportunity.

I would like to know about the building that has been erected in the Cool Springs Business Park on Hwy 319. Who built it and why - and also, what was the price-tag? Does anyone at this point in time believe this "Business Park" was anywhere near a good idea?....

I really appreciated Senator Elliott's comments about oil companies controlling the price of gasoline. Something needs to be done about the spiraling costs as I feel they are adversely effecting our economy. I am bewildered as to why lower speed limits have not been imposed on our roads. It has already been proven that the lower speed limits not only save gasoline, but they also save lives. I've written to our respresentatives and Senator Graham. Senator Graham answered with a form letter about what he would like done about spiraling gasoline costs, but he never addressed my question about lower speed limits. So what good is he, if he can't even answer a simple question.

Re: Jason on 12/3/09 I believe the question with Sanford and his impeachment was the fact that he had left the state & country and was unavailable for his duties for 5 days. He didn't even suggest that the Lt. Gov. should be in charge and no one knew where he was. On the other hand, Clinton's infidelities were strictly personal and should have been handled between him and his wife.

I would like to ask for some information in a "You Asked For It" column. I would like to see the expenditures for every JV and Varsity sport, boys and girls, at Conway High school. I would also like to see the amount given to each sport by both Horry County Schools and the Booster Club. What if the formula used to determine how much money each sport is budgeted from HCS? What is the rationale used to determine how much money each sport is given from the Booster Club? How many teams required players to purchase uniforms, sweats, etc.? Is it true there are teams that aren't even provided bus transportation to games/matches? If one donates to the Booster Club, how can one be sure the money is divided between the teams equitably? Is it true some teams must solicit sponsorships in order to have money for apparel, hats, bags, etc.?

I find it appalling that on pg. 6, there is a long article about how the school district has to make cuts - 102K ACT Scholarships, 75K Science Kits, 32K Scholars Banquet, 550K Bus Driver Overtime oh yeah.. and 119 POSITIONS...then on page 16, the board votes to spend 7.8 MILLION DOLLARS on what??? FIELD HOUSES!!!! Oh yeah, the ubiquitous penny sales tax will fund this. Well, why doesn't my penny sales tax go to fund Science, or SCholars, or Scholarships? 1 in 1,000,000 kids may be good enough to play college or pro, but EVERY KIDS is good enough to be successful in class. You keep misappropriating funds away from classrooms and scholarships to passtimes and sports. If there are no classes, teachers, and learning, there will be no sports. Parents, taxpayers, voters, why aren't you screaming about this???

This past weekend I visited the L.W. Paul Living History Museum in Conway. I just want to say congratulations and thank you To Mr. Paul for this outstanding tribute to how life was in the early 1900s. It's a wonderful demonstration of generosity and value of understanding the heritage we all enjoy today. The volunteer staff welcomed me the minute I entered the General Store. Horry county should be proud of the work of the Volunteer staff and Mr Larry Paul for his dedication to the community. I am from Concord, NC and will recommend to family and friends a side trip to this wonderful treasure in Conway, SC.
